EA boys, girls compete at AISA state track, field meet Friday

GULF SHORES – Escambia Academy’s boys finished sixth and the girls 16th in the AISA Class 1A-2A state track and field meet today at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex.
The boys accumulated 31 points during the meet.
EA’s Danny Doerr scored 10 points; Quinton Odom scored 11; Shawton Riley had six; and Eli Covington added four points for the varsity squad.
Additionally, Odom set a new state record in the triple jump event.
Complete results by gender and event included:
- Boys 100-meter dash – Riley, third place, 11.54 seconds; and Odom, sixth place, 11.75 seconds
- Girls 300-meter hurdles – Camille Nichols, ninth place, 1 minute, 00.17 seconds, personal record (PR)
- Boys 800-meter run – Doerr, seventh place, 2:17.64 (PR); and Covington, eighth place, 2:20.19 (PR)
- Boys 1600-meter run – Doerr, fourth place, 5:11.57; and Covington, fifth place, 5:17.29
- Boys 3200-meter run – Doerr, third place, 10:54.24 (PR); and Covington, fifth place, 11:25.03 (PR)
- Boys Discus – Cade Leachman, 13th place, 88.09 feet; and Brayden Faircloth, 30th, 68.07 feet (PR)
- Girls Discus – Caelyn McElhaney, 27th, 51.05 feet; and Cleria McCants, 31st, 37.11 feet
- Girls High Jump – Paisly Donaldson, sixth place, 4-04 feet (PR); and Scottlia Williams, 16th, 4 feet (PR)
- Girls Long Jump – Donaldson, 18th, 12.05 feet; and McElhaney, 20th, 12.01 (PR).
- Girls Shot Put – Tyleaha James, 19th, 24.02 (PR); and McCants, 31st, 17.08
- Boys Triple Jump – Odom, first place, 44.08 feet (AISA PR); and Eli McElhaney, 14th place, 35.02 feet (PR)
