An Atmore man was arrested April 25 on possession of drug charges, according to officials.
Atmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release Demario Bowens, 34, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana I and possession of drug paraphernalia.
McMann said at approximately 9:35 a.m. on the day of the arrest, an APD officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on South Presley Street. The officer then contacted Bowens.
“The officer detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, which led to a probable cause search of the vehicle,” McMann said. “ Upon searching the vehicle, the officer discovered over 30 grams of marijuana and items used to package narcotics.”
Bowens was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
