Despite the lights going out for approximately 5 minutes, 78 Flomaton High School’s seniors received their diplomas in front of a packed crowd May 17.
During the presentation of diplomas, the auditorium lights shut off. Principal Mark Harbison told the crowd, filled with the graduates’ family and loved ones, that the outage wasn’t going to impact the special occasion and asked them to turn on their phone lights.
A few graduates received their diplomas under the new ambiance, and created a memory many will never forget.
After the salutatory address by Riley Johnson, and the valedictory address by Helen Weber, the diplomas were awarded.
