Dr. Max Parker recently announced the release of the third edition of “Escambia County Training School: Remember that time… Stories Never Told.”
The book will be available for purchase on June 27, 2024.
According to a release, the history of the Escambia County Training School in Atmore will never be complete until stories about the experiences of the people who went to the school are told.
“The third edition of the book tells the coming of age stories of many people growing up in rural Alabama in the 1950s and 1960s, and the many experiences, reactions, and choices made by students leaving high school, about to embark upon a world that seemed as large as the universe,” officials said. “There lies a premise that something great can come from humble beginnings. The book also chronicles the incredible achievements of people who attended or graduated from the school prior to public school integration in Alabama in 1970, and beyond.”
A book signing will be held in Atmore on Thurs., June 27, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the PCRC Building, 206 Park Dr., Atmore, AL 36502. The book will be available for purchase at the event for $19.95. An additional charge will be included for any book purchase requiring shipping.
