An Atmore man was arrested on drug charges June 18, according to officials.
Atmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Theotis Jones, 39, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana II.
McMann said at approximately 10:05 a.m. on the day of the arrest, an APD officer on routine patrol on East Church Street, conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in reference to an equipment violation. The officer then contacted Jones.
“During the interaction with Jones, the officer noticed a baggy of a green leafy substance which later field tested positive for marijuana,” he said. “During the search of the vehicle, the officer discovered a white rocky substance that field tested positive for crack cocaine. Items also were recovered that are typically used to ingest narcotics.”
McMann said Jones was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
