Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Jeremy Mills, 54, was arrested and charged with obstruction of justice using a false identity, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

McMann said at approximately 8 p.m. on the day of the arrest, an APD officer conducted a traffic stop after observing a vehicle failing to maintain its lane of travel on Highway 21. The officer then contacted Mills.

“Mills provided the officer with a false name and date of birth upon contact, as Mills was aware he had several outstanding arrest warrants from agencies in north Alabama,” McMann said.

McMann said Mills was then taken into custody when the officer discovered Mills had provided false information.

“Upon taking Mills into custody, the officer discovered over 2 grams a clear crystal-like substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine and a glass pipe containing methamphetamine residue,” he said.

Mills was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
