An Escambia County (Ala.) man was arrested without incident June 30 after approximately five hours of negotiations with law enforcement officials, according to the Escambia County (Fla.) Sheriff’s Office.
Public Information Officer Morgan Lewis said on Sunday, the ECSO responded to the 8000 block of Highway 97 for a warrant service on John McDowell, 48.
Lewis said McDowell had active warrants from Escambia County, Ala. for violation of probation and two counts of failure to appear.
“McDowell refused to come to the door even after several attempts to contact him and negotiate,” Lewis said. “Out of precaution, we activated our SWAT and negotiations teams.”
Lewis said after about four to five hours of negotiations, McDowell exited the home and was arrested without incident.
Lewis said McDowell was taken to Escambia County, Fla. Jail and will be extradited back to Escambia County, Ala. for his charges.
