Flomaton woman arrested on attempting to elude, drug charges

A Flomaton woman was arrested July 7 on attempting to elude and drug charges, according to the Atmore Police Department.

Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Kiauna Grice, 33, was arrested and charged with felony attempting to elude a police officer and possession of drug paraphernalia.

McMann aid on July 7, at approximately 5:35 p.m., APD officers were notified of a reckless driver on Highway 31 heading toward Atmore from the Canoe area. Additionally, the complainant also notified the dispatcher the occupants in the vehicle appeared to be arguing.

One of the responding officers observed the vehicle at the intersection of Highway 31 and Medical Park,” McMann said. “The officer noticed the vehicle didn’t have a license plate and activated his emergency blue lights to conduct a traffic stop.”

McMann said the driver of the vehicle, later identified as Grice, pulled into a gas station at the intersection and then headed back toward Canoe on Highway 31, reaching speeds in excess of 90 miles per hour. Grice eventually stopped east of Canoe, and was taken into custody.

  Grice was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
