An Atmore man died in a single-vehicle crash July 9 on Interstate 10, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

According to the FHP, the 56-year-old male in a pickup truck was traveling westbound on Interstate 10 near mile marker 251 with a boat/trailer in tow.

FHP officials said for unknown reasons, the driver traveled off the roadway to the right and onto the paved shoulder.

FHP officials said the driver re-entered the travel lanes, causing the boat in town to jacknife. The vehicle traveled across the travel lanes and into the center median, where the vehicle overturned before colliding with the guardrail.

The vehicle came to a final rest overturned in the center median.

EMS officials responded to the scene, and pronounced the driver deceased, according to the FHP.
