Waiting in line to go into the Flomaton-Clarke County football game, one could tell that Chris was excited.

Thursday marked the beginning of high school football for teams in Escambia County. T.R. Miller also debuted its 2024 season in Montgomery against Reeltown.

Chris, who is from Monroe County, if memory serves, was so excited to come and see the football game.

He didn’t have any nephews or family in the Flomaton-Clarke County game.

Chris just likes high school football.

He mentioned that he was going to go see the top-ranked Jackson Aggies face off against top-ranked Saraland the following evening.

A sparkle could be seen in his eye.

Yes, Friday night lights are back. The smell of grilled meats; the sounds of cheering fans and loud marching bands; and the play from the boys of fall has begun.
