Two Century, Fla. women and a Foley woman were arrested Aug. 23 on possession of drug charges, according to the Atmore Police Department.
Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Kiauna Grice, 33, of Century, was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance; Tashawna Perkins, 31, of Century, was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance; and Hannah Reed, 20, of Foley, was charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance. McMann added that Reed had an outstanding warrant for her arrest with the Escambia County (Ala.) Sheriff’s Office. All were transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
McMann said at approximately 2:20 p.m. on the day of arrest, APD officers were responded to the Canoe area in reference to a suspicious vehicle that was heading toward Atmore.
“One of the officers observed the vehicle on Highway 31 near Medical Park Drive,” he said. “The vehicle was heading back toward Canoe. The officer ran the license plate number displayed on the vehicle and discovered the license plate was registered to a different vehicle.”
McMann said an officer conducted a traffic stop and contacted the driver, Grice, and the passengers, Perkins and Reed.
Grice gave consent to the officers to search her vehicle, McMann said.
“During the search of the vehicle, the officers discovered approximately 1 gram of methamphetamine, approximately 1 gram of synthetic cannabis (spice) and a mixture of several loose pills that were identified as loratab and tramadol,” he said.
