Amy Drake was named Miss Williams Station Day 2002.
Sixteen of Alabama's most talented young women competed in the Pageant last Saturday night at ECHS Hodnette Auditorium.
The Atmore Arts Council, who sponsors the pageant, said that they are proud to sponsor the franchise, which gives young women in Alabama the opportunity to compete nationally for college tuition.
The 2002 Miss Williams Station Day Pageant was the second annual preliminary of the "Miss Alabama/Miss America Scholarship Programs."
Drake will go on to Birmingham to compete at the Miss Alabama Pageant in June. There, she will be eligible for thousands of dollars in scholarship money.
The sixteen contestants particpated in an interview, swimsuit, talent and evening wear portions of the pageant.
First Runner up was Mrs. Kelly Hawkins, and second Runner up was Amy Calhoun.
The mistress of ceremonies was Leigh Shearer, Miss Alabama 1995.
On hand for intermission were the Atmore Dance Department who offered several classic as well as contemporary routines.
The Escambia County Middle School Jazz Band also lent their talent for the evening. In their first appearance, the ECMS Middle School Dance Team were on hand as well.
Rachel Haynes, last years Miss Williams Station Day, was on hand to crown the Drake.
Drake will be present at Williams Station Day 2002 in October.
The pageant offered more than $500 in scholarship for the participants.
