According to the NWS, there is a chance of moderate flooding rain over the western portion of Escambia County, Ala. and Escambia County, Fla.

NWS officials said heavy rainfall and flooding concerns increase Wednesday into Wendesday night.

The forecast of rainfall calls for 2-4 inches with localized amounts in excel of 6 inches.

Escambia County EMA Director David Adams said in a release that the forecast also includes gusty winds, potential heavy rain and possible isolated tornadoes, adding that the area will be on the east side of the storm.

“The current forecast for our area calls for some gusty winds, potentially heavy rain, and possibly isolated tornadoes,” Adams said. “Rainfall totals could be 2-3 inches in some areas. The tornado threat is listed as marginal. All these impacts will be driven by the path of the rain or feeder bands that are created by the tropical system. This means that some of our areas may see more impacts than other areas.”

According to the forecast outlook, there’s a 90 percent coverage chance of showers today and tonight, along with Thursday; and a 50 percent coverage chance of thunderstorms on Thursday night.

Highs will be 74 degrees on Wednesday, and 80 degrees on Thursday.
