A Flomaton man was arrested Sept. 27 on possession of drug and attempting to elude charges, according to the Atmore Police Department.
Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Cody Leverette, 26, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and attempting to elude a police officer.
McMann said at approximately 3 p.m. on the day of the arrest, an APD officer conducted a traffic stop on South Main Street in reference to a vehicle being driven with a shattered front windshield. The officer then contacted Leverette, who was the driver.
“During the officer’s interaction with Leverette, the officer noted that Leverette was acting in a suspicious manner and requested consent to search Leverette’s clothing,” McMann said. “The officer removed several baggies of synthetic marijuana (spice) totaling nearly 6 grams. When the officer pulled the narcotics out of Leverett’s clothing, Leverette fled on foot. He was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit. During a search of Leverette’s vehicle, the officer discovered several items that are used to ingest narcotics.”
Leverette was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
