The Escambia County Blue Devils had a rough outing against the Excel Panthers as they were defeated 16-3 on Monday afternoon in Excel.

The Blue Devils held tough with the Panthers for the first two innings of the match up, but in the third inning the Panthers took control as they pulled out to a commanding lead.

In the top of the first, the Blue Devils jumped on the scoreboard with Marshall Rolin and Rickey Reed scoring runs.

The Panthers answered back in the bottom of the inning with three Panthers scoring to take the lead 3-2.

After a scoreless half inning for the Blue Devils, the Panthers added a run in the bottom of the second.

The Blue Devils were held off the scoreboard again in the top of the third, while the Panthers scored 10 runs to pull ahead 14-2.

The Blue Devils cut the Panthers’ lead to 10 runs in the top of the fourth as Malcolm Black got onto the basepath and touched home plate.

With a 14-3 lead, the Panthers scored two more runs before the game was called due to a light failure giving them a 16-3 win.

In the second game of a doubleheader, the Escambia County Blue Devils were shut out 13-0 by the Cottage Hill Warriors in Mobile last Tuesday.

The Blue Devils kept the Warriors in check in the first inning giving up only one run, but the Warriors would do their damage in the second, third and fourth innings to pick up the victory.

Leading 1-0 in the bottom of the second, the Warriors picked up three runs and added three more in the third.

Cottage Hill picked up their final six runs in the bottom of the fourth to cruise to the win.

In the first game of their doubleheader with the Cottage Hill Warriors, the Escambia County Blue Devils put up a fight falling 14-4 in Mobile last Tuesday.

The Blue Devils were able to open the game with a couple of runs as Nick Flowers and Marshall Rolin each crossed home plate.

The Warriors answered back by taking the lead in the bottom of the inning as five runs scored.

The Warriors extended their lead in the bottom of the second with three more runs scoring, but the Blue Devils cut their lead to four as Coby Smith and Rolin each scored.

After those runs scored, it was all Warriors as they scored one run in the third and fourth innings, two in the fifth and three in the sixth to pick up the 14-4 win.
