Blue Devils winless slump continues

Escambia County opened area play with three games against the Saraland Spartans last week.
The Blue Devils dropped all three games to fall to 0-15 on the season and 0-3 in their area.

The Escambia County Blue Devils lost their third consecutive game to Saraland 12-1 on Saturday in Atmore.
The Blue Devils (0-15, 0-3) led the contest early, but the Spartans overtook them in the top of the third and never looked back on their way to a win.
The Blue Devils held the Spartans scoreless in the top of the first inning and in their first trip to the plate were able to get a run on the scoreboard with Marshall Rolin scoring.
With a1-0 lead, the Blue Devils did their best to hold onto it as they held Saraland scoreless in the top of the second, but ECHS was unable to capitalize inthe bottom of the inning.
Saraland took control of the game in the top of the third as Brandon Trawick and Matthew Peacock scored to put the Spartans on top 2-1.
The Blue Devils offense stalled at the plate in the bottom of the third with Rolin and Keon McCants being stranded on base.
After a scoreless fourth inning, the Spartans added four more runs to the scoreboard in the top of the fifth as Joseph Barnett, Trawick, Peacock and Dustin Smith each touched home plate.
The Spartans added to their six-run lead in the top of the sixth this time with three runs as Peacock, Jordan Tillman and Tyler Berry scored to put Sarland up 9-0.
The Blue Devils were again unable to score any runs in bottom of the sixth and when the Spartans came back to the plate they scored three more with Dumar, Berry and Barnett all scoring.
Escambia County was unable to mount any runs or a comeback in the bottom of the seventh giving Saraland the win.

The Escambia County Blue Devils lost their second straight game and first of a doubleheader to the Saraland Spartans on Saturday in Atmore, 16-2.
The Blue Devils (0-14, 0-2) gave their best effort, but were unable to stop the Spartans who scored four runs inthe first inning, one run in the third, six runs in the fourth inning and five runs in the fifth inning.
The Blue Devils two runs came in the fourth inning with Marshall Rolin and Coby Smith getting runs on the scoreboard.

In the first game of a three-game weekend match up against the Sarland Spartans, the Escambia County Blue Devils were shut out 11-0 in Saraland.
The Blue Devils (0-13, 0-1) were able to get a few runners on during the game, but could never get any offense going to get those runners across the plate.
The Spartans were able to find offense early as they scored two runs in the first inning, eight runs in the second inning and their final run in the third innning to pick up the win.
