Blue Devils fall 45-22 to Hillcrest-Evergreen, end season

Escambia County fell 45-22 to Hillcrest-Evergreen on senior night tonight in its final game of the 2024 season.

With the loss, the Blue Devils finished 2-8 overall. ECHS defeated Monroe County 33-8 on Aug. 30, and shutout Northview, Fla. 14-0 on Sept. 27.

ECHS head football coach Vincent Harris gave all the glory to God.

“These kids, they stuck with the program, and stuck it out,” Harris said. “All the glory goes to God.”

Harris said, even though they were losses, the opportunity to play against Mobile Christian and Hillcrest-Evergreen was just that, a good opportunity.

“We played against the No. 6 team (Mobile Christian, a 13-6 loss) and did well,” he said. “Hillcrest-Evergreen is a good team, and I think we’ll see them competing for a state title.”

She’Marrion Matthews caught three touchdown receptions from quarterback Jamarion Robinson in tonight’s game.

ECHS ends its season 2-8.
