A Mobile woman was arrested on possession of drug charges Nov. 4, according to the Atmore Police Department.

Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Dana Windus, 46, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

McMann said at approximately 3:40 p.m. on the day of arrest, an APD officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with an expired tag on East Nashville Avenue.

The officer then made contact with the driver, Windus, McMann said.

“During the officer’s interaction with Windus, the officer noted she was acting strangely,” he said. “A K-9 responded to the scene. The K-9 alerted on the vehicle and a probable cause search was conducted.”

McMann said during the search of the vehicle, the officers discovered a small amount of a crystal-like substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine and other items that are used to ingest narcotics.

Windus was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
