The National Multiple Sclerosis Society is sponsoring the annual MS Walk this Saturday in Mobile at Langan Municipal Park Pavillion.
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and is open to all who wish to participate.
The walk offers two routes: a one mile route and a three mile route.
According to Linda Helton, an MS ambassador who also suffers from the disease, says that money raised from this walk will go to benefit reseach efforts locally in Alabama.
MS affects Myelin, or the outer protective coat covering the spinal cord, causing it to deteriorate. This results in "misfires," or confused or lost signals from the brain to muscles.
Those who wish to participate are encouraged to begin taking donations to bring with them to the walk on Sat.
First National Bank of Atmore presented a check for $200 for the walk.
