Rain hits as SFI White Sox lead UB Warriors 3-1

The battles continued in the Atmore Cal Ripken American League last Thursday night with the PCI Cubs and PCI Rockies facing off in the early game.

In the late game, the State Farm Insurance White Sox took on the United Bank Warriors with rain cutting the game short tin the top of the third inning.

Rain-shortened game

Rain cut short the Atmore Cal Ripken American League battle between the State Farm Insurance White Sox and United Bank Warriors last Thursday night at Tom Byrne Park.

Before the rain began in the top of the third, the White Sox had built a 3-1 lead over the Warriors.

The White Sox were the first to get on the scoreboard with their first at-bat in the top of the first inning. Tyler Renfroe (1-for-1, R), Bryant Quimby (1-for-1, R) and TyDerrious Malone (1-for-1, R) each getting big hits and scoring runs. Malone had the hit of the inning ripping a home run.

The Warriors responded in the bottom of the first with Saviour Kilpatrick (1-for-1, R) getting on base with a single and scoring on a single by Jadon Torres (1-for-1) to pull within two runs.

Following a scoreless second inning, the game was ended due to rain moving in. It is undetermined when the game is to be completed.

Rockies 11

Cubs 8

In a Thursday match up of the Atmore Cal Ripken American League, the PCI Rockies defeated the PCI Cubs 11-8 at Tom Byrne Park.

The Rockies had to come back late in the game after the Cubs had built an 8-0 lead through the top of the third inning.

In the top of the first, the Cubs jumped ahead 6-0 as Daughtry McGhee (1-for-2, R), Ian McGhee (1-for-2, R), Jason Davis (2-for-2, 2 R), Damon Rolin (2-for-2, R), Jayce Sells (2-for-2, 2 R) and Talan Daughtry (1-for-2, R) all crossed home plate.

Following two scoreless at-bats by the Rockies, the Cubs extended their lead to eight runs as Davis and A.J. Lowery (1-for-2, R) both made it home in the top of the third.

The Rockies finally got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third inning with Daylin Price (2-for-3, 2 R), Tucker Spence (3-for-3, 2 R), Gavin Snow (1-for-3, R), Colton Kent (2-for-3, 2 R) and Colby Burkett (3-for-3, 2 R) all scored making the score 8-5.

After holding the Cubs scoreless in the top of the fourth, the Rockies came back for the win with Price, Tyler Rolin (2-for-3, R), Spence, Kent, Burkett and Dawson Cox (2-for-3, R) each coming home to help their team win. 11-8.
