FNB&T Athletics cruise past PCI Mariners in finale

The First National Bank & Trust Athletics closed out their season with a 9-2 victory over the PCI Mariners Tuesday at Tom Byrne Park.

The Athletics had the game in hand from the start as they jumped out to an early 4-0 lead w ith Rashaan Flavors (2-for-2, 2R), D. Richardson (1-for-2, R), Nytorious Cooler (0-for-1, R) and Eric Williams all crossing the plate.

The Mariners made the score 4-1 in the bottom of the first as Xan McGhee (2-for-2, R) scored a run, but the Athletics would extend their lead in the top of the second.

In the second, the Athletics would put the score at 7-1 as Flavors, Williams and Gayton Thames (2-for-2, R) each made their way around the base path to score runs.

The Mariners would score their final run in the bottom of the inning as Justin Pearson (0-for-1, R) reached base and scored on a single by McGhee.

Leading 7-2, the A’s would put the game away in the top of third as Jamaya Frye (0-for-1, R) and Curon Frye (0-for-1, R) each touched home plate to put their team ahead 9-2 for the win, as the Mariners failed to score in their final turn at the plate.
