Escambia County High School's junior varsity boys basketball team improved to 9-1 on the season with a narrow 55-51 win over Hillcrest Friday night.
The Blue Devils held off Hillcrest with 19 points from Travis Montgomery while Lance Stanley added 17 and Chris Andrews poured in 11.
The Blue Devils will take an extended break for the Christmas holidays before returning to action on Jan. 10 for a road contest against Charles Henderson.
Tipoff for that contest is slated for 5 p.m.
