Poarch friends provide holiday flare for all

The skies around Atmore lit up like the 4th of July, literally Monday night, thanks to the Poarch Band of Creek Indians.
As the festivities began hundreds, if not thousands, of area residents gathered along the roads and trails in Poarch to catch a glimpse of the Tribe’s presentation that honored the freedom of our country.
The Poarch Band of Creek Indians has presented a 4th of July fireworks show for a few years now, offering the citizens of their own community and those that surround them an opportunity to remember the holiday with a bang.
This year was no exception. With every available spot occupied by spectators of all ages, the show went off without a hitch.
There were no reports of injuries, fights or any activity that would have put a damper on the event. Not even rain would dare cause a problem for the community event.
We applaud The Poarch Band of Creek Indians for their gift to the communities that surround them. There chance to share a good time with those around them shined bright as we celebrated our nation’s birthday.
Thanks to the organizers who created a lineup of local artists to entertain while waiting for a spectacular fireworks show.
If you see a member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians, be sure to tell them thank you.
