ECMS eighth grade student Jordan Smith earned first place honors in the Botany Category of the ECMS Science Fair, held Feb. 12 at the ECMS gymnasium. Smith's project "Does detergent affect plant growth?" will now compete in the county science fair and as a result of also being named in the Best of Show group will go on to the regional science fair competition in Mobile. "It takes a lot of work and a lot of time if you want a good project. But it's a lot of fun when you get to win," said Smith.
