Dewanzo Brown
A native of Nokomis, Sgt. Brown is currently serving in the U.S. Central Command in Jordan, where he provides structural and engineering support for his unit, which is based at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Ariz.
He is the son of Homer and Fannie Brown, and has a wife, Carmenetta Brown, and a son, Devante Brown. He also has 10 brothers and sisters.
Jerry Bradford Alston
A native of Atmore, Alston is currently serving as a Petty Officer 3rd Class AT3 with the United States Navy in Norfolk, Va. He is attached to the 600 Division/AIMD, where he repairs E2C Hawkeye radar, display and navigation units.
He is the son of Mason and Deborah Stabler and has a sister, Angela Brown; a brother-in-law, Ronnie Brown; and a niece, Caitlyn Brown.
Dempsey Walker
A native of Atmore, he is serving as an E-6 at Fort Stewart, Ga., where he is a material facilities specialist. He is also a veteran of Desert Storm.
He is the son of Wilbert and Mary Walker and the grandson of Ella M. Doris. He and his wife, Cometrice, have four sons, Desmond, Dempsey, Jr., Devonta and Denzel.
Michael Earl Steele
A native of Atmore, he is serving as a Petty Officers First Class. He is stationed in Guam, but is now serving on the supply ship Niagara Falls in the Persian Gulf, where he is a helicopter structural and hydraulic system mechanic.
He is the son of Bennie and Eloise Steele, and he and his wife, Sandra, have a son, Bradley Aaron Steele. He also has four stepchildren, Justin, Colten, Levi and Tory Holden, and two brothers, Ronnie and Roy Steele.
Nicholas G. Walker
A native of Atmore, he is a Staff Sergeant at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia, where he serves as a communication computer operator.
He is the son of Wilbert and Mary Walker and the grandson of Ella M. Davis. He and his wife, Starr, have two daughters, Eboni and Amaya.
Roy Glen Steele
A native of Atmore, he is a Senior Airman, 51 MX5, serving in South Korea, where his main responsibilities include munitions.
He is the son of Bennie and Eloise Steele and has two brothers, Ronnie and Michael Steele. His wife, Melissa (Scott) Steele, is also stationed in South Korea with the Air Force. She is from Mobile.
Gerry L. Jackson
Captain Jackson is currently serving as the Company Commander of the 209th Quartermaster Company out of Lafayette, Ind., a unit which was recently activated.
He is the husband of Teresa Jackson, the son of Betty Holly, Pam Jackson and Theodore Beasley and the grandson of Cornie Beasley and the late Helen Jackson.
Captain Jackson is in charge of 119 soldiers in the unit.
