Seven teams helped the Atmore Relay for Life raised $66,500 for the American Cancer Society's fight against cancer.
The 12-hour Relay helped raise funds for the ACS's cancer research fund.
The Relay began at 5:30 p.m. with a survivors' luncheon that was attended by about 70 people.
A solemn luminaria ceremony was held at 9 p.m. and entertainment was provided throughout the evening by Shades of Time Band, First Baptist Church Handbell Choir, Randall Adams, Carley Hetrick, Jim Reynolds, Reed Adams, David DeShazo and Khaki Jam and the Octopus Band.
Several fun events were also held, including a team skit contest, a womanless beauty pageant, spirit games a wet T-shirt contest and karaoke.
Awards were given several different categories . Atmore Community Hospital was given the award for best food and best campsite. The Poarch Creek Band of Creek Indians was awarded top honors in the Best Cancer Facts and Spirit of Relay. Myrna's M&M's got the award for most money raised and Myrna Monroe was the top fundraiser with more than $6,000.
Relay for Life teams were: Atmore Community Hospital, Atmore Nursing Care Center, Boatwright Family, Escambia Academy, Escambia County High School National Honor Society, First National Bank, Frontier Communications, Heavenly Touch Detailing, Masland Carpets, Myrna Monroe and Friends, Pepsi/SAV, Poarch Creek Indians and Tiny Town Daycare.
