58th Annual Meeting of the Chamber of Commerce

The Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce's 58th Annual Meeting will be held on Thursday, January 15. This year's event will be held at the Atmore Lions Community Center located on Pensacola Avenue; beginning at 6:30 p.m. Dinner will be followed by Andy Andrews delivering the keynote speech. Andrews a comedian and inspirational storyteller has spoken to four different presidents of the United States and toured with the likes of Kenny Rodgers, Bob Hope, and Garth Brooks. The Chamber asked Andrews to speak based on the message of his book, "The Traveler's Gift", being read this year by Leadership Atmore.
Emilie Mims, Director for the Chamber of Commerce said, "We are excited about having Andy Andrews as keynote speaker. He is in great demand because of his book being on the New York Times Best Sellers list. We were able to have him here by moving the meeting to Thursday, and are just so pleased to have him."
Nominations for Citizen of the Year are still be accepted by the Chamber up until noon, January 12. The winner of this prestigious honor will be announced at the meeting. Also, current president, Peggie Byrd of Alabama Power will step down from her position and Wesley Channel, pastor of First Presbyterian will assume that role.
