Bright sunny days, blooming azaleas, warm afternoons, yes friends, spring is here. Pollen coating everything in sight, running, stuffy noses, sinus headaches, cough and chest congestion, yes friends, spring is here.
In case you're one of the lucky few who hasn't had to deal with spring time allergies, it can be easy to miss noticing that spring is here.
Most of us are so busy with work and our daily lives, that we hardly notice, when we complain about the office or house getting warm and turn on the air conditioner for a little while.
I'm obviously turning into an old man when I say this, but it's true. You young kids out there don't know how good you've got it. Spring Break? A week or more out of school just because you're about to drive your teachers insane. Must be nice.
Us old working fogies don't qualify for that, no matter how much we annoy the boss. I know, I've been working on that for a month now.
No, in the adult world, you just have to deal with your spring fever and find a way to be as productive as possible considering the circumstances.
Those of us who are, shall we say, less scrupulous than others, find devious ways to nick out from work for a day or so. But for most of us, we go on working.
Frankly, I wouldn't trade being back in school for spring break.
Actually, I think we should institute a spring break for business. From dealing with a number of business entities all over the country lately, giving everyone a day or two off shouldn't hurt productivity much from where it sits right now.
We could all go to the beach, get sunburns and do other silly things that we'll regret when we get back.
Considering this is an election year, we'll have enough to deal with after our "adult spring break."
Considering this is an election year, maybe we'll need a summer vacation too.
