Two wrecks this week sent two men to the hospital and totaled at least one vehicle.
On Thursday afternoon a green 1996 Dodge pickup overturned while heading North on I- 65.
At approximately 12:45 p.m. the pickup overturned two and half miles north of exit 57. It was the only vehicle involved in the accident and restricted traffic to only one lane.
As of press time the wreck was still under investigation by Highway Patrol. However, the following information has been confirmed by the State Highway Patrol. The driver of the pickup has been identified as 59 year old male William Clabrun Dobbs Jr, of Satsuma. The reason for the accident is unclear.
Dobbs was taken by ambulance to Atmore Community Hospital after receiving injuries from the accident. When the pickup was turned right side up, it began to roll down the highway embankment until it hit a tree. The truck was eventually removed from the scene after about one hour by a local towing company.
On Tuesday, another accident in the Poarch area involved a vehicle and a pedestrian. Cecil Hudson, of Atmore, was riding a bicycle when it was struck by a car driven by Alonzo Bright Jr., also of Atmore.
Hudson was taken by Lifeflight to the University of South Alabama Medical Center where he was listed in fair condition.
The Alabama Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
