Obituaries for June 6, 2004 edition of the Atmore Advance
Clifford Rossum
Mr. Clifford Van Rossum, 87, of Century, died Monday, May 31, 2004, in Pensacola. Rossum was a native of Pensacola and a resident of Century for the past 52 years. He attended Friendship Freewill Baptist Church and was a retired employee from St. Regis Paper Company after 42 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Lorelle Van Rossum.
He is survived by two daughters, Karen and husband Jimmy Cash of Flomaton and Donna and husband Bennie Jernigan of Pensacola; brother, Eldridge and wife Kathryn Van Rossum of Laurel, Miss.; mother-in-law, Ila Dee White of Century; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Margie and Harvey Johnson of Century; three grandchildren, Alisa and husband Jason Hart of Flomaton, Jason and wife Jamie Brown and Rodney and wife Dana Brown all of Molino; six great-grandchildren, Dalton Hart, Brooks Hart, Kaylee Brown, Kenley Brown, Caleb Brown and Hunter Brown, and special care giver, Pam West of Pensacola.
Funeral services were held at Eastside Chapel Funeral Home at 11 a.m., Thursday, with Rev. Shelton Kindig, Rev. Mike Henderson and Rev. Carl Shiver officiating.
Burial took place at Byrneville Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Wayne Johnson, Gary Johnson, Kenny Hammac, Dale Findley, Greg Findley and Daryl Simpson. Honorary pallbearers were Leroy White, John White and Lloyd Barrow.

Daisy Rolin
Mrs. Daisy Belle Rolin, 58, died Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at a local hospital. Rolin was a native of Atmore and a resident of Poarch. She was a member of Poarch Creek Indians and was employed by various restaurants.
She was survived by three sons, Charles and wife Cheryl Gregson and Eddie Gregson all of Pensacola and Timothy Gregson of Jackson, Ala.; four daughters, Sherry and husband James Phillips of Booneville, Robin and husband Larry Gregson of Pensacola; Dinah and husband Andy Nobles and Melanie Gregson all of Poarch; 24 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers, Thomas McGhee, Fields McGhee and Ed Rolin all of Atmore; sister, Letha McGhee of Pensacola; niece, Sandra Steverson of Pensacola and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services were held at Friendly Holiness Church on Saturday, with Rev. Dale Flynn officiating. Burial took place at New Home Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Michael Gregson, Bryan Gregson, Aaron Gregson, Jerry Sanchez, Steven Gregson, Corey Gregson, Anthoy Phillips and David Rolin. Honorary pallbearers were Stephanie Sanchez, Francheska Gregson, Brittany Gregson, Brandy Gregson, Oliver Cardwell, Shannon McGhee, Kenneth McGhee and Nathan McGhee.

Willard "Poodlum" Johnson, Jr.
Mr. Willard "Poodlum" Johnson Jr., 72, of Atmore died Sunday, May 9, 2004 in Atmore. He was born on February 2, 1932 in Escambia County to Willard and Viana Whidbee Johnson Sr. He was a retired supervisor with Vanity Fair Mills.
He was preceded in death by his father, Willard Johnson Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma B. Johnson of Atmore; his mother, Viana Whidbee Johnson; three sons, Dr. Paul E. and Ginger Johnson of Bainbridge, Gra., Michael W. and Brenda McGhee Johnson of Douglasville, Gra., and Gary W. and Linda Johnson of Bainbridge; three brothers, Amos Johnson of Demopolis, Bobby Johnson of Mobile, and Billy Johnson of Decatur; four sisters, Doris Steadham of Foley, Loyce Donald of Atmore, Joyce Thomson of Washington Crossing, and Laura Napps of Florance; six grandchildren, Matt Johnson, Adam Johnson, C.J. White, Olivia Johnson, Ashley Johnson, and Felecia Johnson.
Services were held Wednesday, May 12 at 11 a.m. at Brooks Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Grindle and the Rev. Don Davis officiating.
Burial followed at Serenity Gardens.
Active pallbearers were, Matt Johnson, Adam Johnson, C.J. White, Cecil Coleman, Hubert Brown, Pete Helton, Earl Bryant, and Aubrey "Tobe" Sellers. Honorary pallbearers were, Claude Bouler, Brooks Memorial Pete Helton Sunday School Class, and Deacons of Brooks Memorial Baptist Church.

Kenneth Johnson
Mr. Kenneth Earl Johnson, 31, died Monday, May 31, 2004, in Louisiana.
Johnson was a native of Atmore and a resident of Perdido and Abita Springs, La. for the past ten months. He attended the Baptist Church.
He is survived by his son, Kenneth Marc Johnson of Bay Minette; his father, Edward Earl Johnson of Perdido; his mother, Karen Elizabeth Lott of Statesboro, Ga.; two brothers, Michael Edward and wife Sue Johnson of Vera Cruz, Mexico and Jeremie Wade and wife Tabitha Aloni Johnson of Statesboro, Ga.
Funeral services were held at Eastside Chapel Funeral Home on Friday, with Rev. Doug Odom officiating. Burial took place at Perdido Baptist Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Charles Scott, Aubrey Scott, Brandon Scott, Roger Robinson, George Johnson and Johnny Ramer.

Johnny Madison Sr.
Mr. Johnny Ray Madison Sr., 43, of Century, died Sunday, May 30, 2004, at South Baldwin Hospital in Foley. Madison was a native of Escambia County, Fla. and a resident of Century for many years. He was employed by Amerson Roofing in Atmore for 18 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry and Rosa Carrie Bell Madison and grandparents, Bishop Walter and Lillie Bell Mitchell.
He is survived by two daughters, Shenekia Brooks of Atmore and Geneva Madison of New York; four sons, Johnny Ray Madison Jr. of Century, Kendrell Monta Madison, Antywon Lavon Madison and Rayvon Desha Madison all of Atmore; two sisters, Bessie Newton and Clara Jones both of Pensacola; nine brothers, John Henry Madison Jr., John Wesley Madison, John Edward Madison and Christiful Madison all of Century, Perry Madison of Pensacola, Eddie Madison of Loduwici, Ga., Nathaniel Madison of Ft. Goldom, Ga., John Andrew Madison of Atmore and Aarron Madison of Century, and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Pilgrim Lodge Baptist Church in Century on Thursday, with Bishop Robert Grissett officiating. Burial took place at Century Cemetery.
