Investigators with the Escambia County Sheriff's Office arrested two women in connection with several forgeries in Escambia County, Ala. Jada Trilby Julian of Atmore and Sandra Ann DeLafosse of Century, Florida were charged with two counts of Possession of a Forged Instrument this week.
"One of the women stole a box of checks from a Brewton man earlier this year and then started writing and cashing the checks at stores all over Escambia County." said Cpt. Chuck McMullen, the Chief Investigator for the Sheriff's Office. "Sheriff's Investigator Lee Hall arrested Ms. Julian for passing several of the checks, then a short time later, Ms. DeLafosse turned herself in because she didn't want Ms Julian to take all of the blame."
Investigators from the Brewton Police Department assisted in identifying Julian by using various video tapes recovered from businesses' that accepted checks from the duo.
There are at least fifty checks that have been presented and some of those are in Florida. "Both were only charged with two counts of possession of a forged instrument but further charges may be added when the case is presented to the grand jury." McMullen said.
Jada Julian and Sandra Ann DeLafosse are both in the Escambia County Detention Center.
The Sheriff's Office did not release a list of businesses affected by the checks.
