Lula Knowles Aplin
PENSACOLA, Fla. – Lula Knowles Aplin, 76, went to be with the Lord on Feb. 27, while surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Faith Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Ellis Beech officiating. Graveside services will follow in Union Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Knowles was a native of Atmore, but has been a resident of Pensacola, Fla. for the past 50 years. She attended Jordan Street Assembly of God Church.
Mrs. Knowles' husband, Ellis Aplin, and their son, Johnny Aplin, preceded her in death.
Survivors include four daughters, Jackie (Terry) Harris, Pat (Bobby) Gregory, Debbie (Bubba) Ard and Susie Springer; six sons, Bobby (Debra), Jody (Amy), Sambo (Shay), Jimmy Wayne (Shannon), Sonny and Charlie Aplin; 28 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; brother, Frankie (Nora) Knowles; sister Mattie (Russell) Daughtery and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Active pallbearers will be her sons.
The family received friends March 1 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home.
Earl McAnally
PERDIDO – Mr. Earl McAnally, 74, passed away Feb. 26 in Fairhope. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today from the Atmore Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. J.E. Ryland officiating. Graveside services will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mr. McAnally was born in Atmore on Dec. 16, 1930 to the late Ernest G. and Ellafair Lewis McAnally. He was retired from the State Prison System's as a communications officer.
Mr. McAnally's wife, Ora Lee McAnally, preceded him in death.
Survivors include on step-daughter, Agnes (Jack) Madison of Atmore; two brothers, John Henry (Clara) McAnally of Springhill, Fla. and Ed (Marie) McAnally of Gulf Shores; one sister-in-law, Pauline McAnally of Stockton and two step-grandchildren.
Family received friend March 1 at Atmore Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
Henry "Buddy" Ashcraft
BRATT, Fla. – Mr. Henry "Buddy" Ashcraft, 75, passed away Feb. 27 in Pensacola, Fla. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will follow in Godwin Cemetery.
Mr. Ashcraft was born in Bratt, Fla. on July 28, 1929 to the late Henry Harvey and Annie Hanks Ashcraft. He was a retired Aircraft Electrician.
Mr. Ashcraft's youngest son, Ronald Bell Ashcraft, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Maggie Francis Ashcraft of Bratt, Fla., one son, Donald Clarence (Jeri) Ashcraft of Port St. Joe, Fla.; two grandsons, Donald Benjaman and Michael Gaston Ashcraft and one niece, Patsy Phillips of Atlanta, Ga.
Family received friend on March 1 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
Elizabeth Vickery Steadham
ATMORE – Mrs. Elizabeth Vickery Steadham, 74, passed away Feb. 27 in Tuscaloosa. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on March 3 from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Wayne Ellis officiating. Graveside services will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Steadham was born in Escambia County, Alabama on August 24, 1925 to the late Thomas Alma and Clara Cornelia Daniels Vickery. She was a homemaker and a member of Atmore Community of Christ Church.
Mrs. Steadham's husband, Temus Elmore Steadham, preceded her in death.
Survivors include, five daughters, Shirley S. (Larry) Brown of Frisco City, Margaret S. (Rev. Leo) Luker of Atmore, Frances (Keith) Beightol of Wayneboro, Miss., Judy S. (William) of Mt. Kisco, N.Y. and Hazel D. Steadham of Atmore, 12 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Active pallbearers will be Leo Luker III, Jonathan Temus Luker, William Christian Bock II, Derrek Wilson, Austin Bosarge and Roger Roberts Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Drew, Dalton Vickery, Maurice Vickery, Dennis Vickery, Earl Vickery, Jimmy Stewart, Carl Vickery, Stephen Vickery, Weldon Vickery, Doug Vickery, Roger Johnson and L.J. Watson.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. tonight at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
Anna B. Peters
MOUNDRIDGE, Kan. – Mrs. Anna B. Peters, 94, passed away Feb. 24 in Moundridge, Kan. Funeral services were held March 1 from the Walnut Hill Mennonite Church in Walnut Hill, Fla. with Bro. Carlos Koehn, Bro. Maynard Peters and Bro. Galen Harms officiating. Graveside services followed in Walnut Hill Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Peters, formerly of Walnut Hill, Fla., was a homemaker, born in Gratiot Co., Mich. on Sept. 20, 1910 to the late Hiram J. and Catherine Becthel Mininger. She was a member of Walnut Hill Mennonite Church.
Mrs. Peters' husband, Rev. Francis S. Peters, one son-in-law and two granddaughters, preceded her in death.
Survivors include three sons, Vern (Deloris) Peters, Wilbert (Imo) Peters and Verle (Vesta) Peters, all of Walnut Hill; four daughters, Beatrice Riggs of Moundridge, Kan., Louise (Abe) Ensz of Hillsboro, Kan., Lois (Willie) Eicher and Kathleen (John) Wenger, all of Walnut Hill; one brother, Edwin Mininger of Moundridge, Kan.; one sister, Mable Rhodes of Montezuma, Kan.; 30 grandchildren, 103 great grandchildren and 24 great-great grandchildren.
Active pallbearers included Randy Peters, Andrew Peters, Keith Schmidt, Dean Peters, Glen Ensz, Daniel Eicher, Kelvin Wenger and Wesley Wenger.

Roberta "Bobbie" Jean (Smith) Wainikainen
BAY MINETTE – Roberta "Bobbie" (Smith) Wainikainen, 59, passed away Feb. 23 at her residence. Funeral services were held March 1 at the Chapel of Norris Funeral Home of Bay Minette. Cremation arrangements were performed by Norris Funeral Home.
Mrs. Wainikainen was born in Rockville Centre, NY. She worked as a telephone operator at Z-Tel of Atmore.
Mrs. Wainikainen is survived by her husband of 34 years, Robert "Bob" William Wainikainen of Bay Minette; daughter, Kelly Jean Wainikainen of Bay Minette; granddaughter Courtney Brooke Thomaston; two brothers, James Cameron Smith of Texas and "Shorty" Smith of New York and one sister, Michelle Ann Smith of Houston, Texas.
The family received friends on Feb. 28 at Norris Funeral Home.
Sadie Ruth McCawley Jernigan
CENTURY, Fla. – Mrs. Sadie Ruth McCawley Jernigan, 74, passed away Feb. 25 at a Pensacola, Fla. hospital. Funeral services were held Feb. 27 at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Stephen Yuhasz officiating. Graveside services followed at Mize Cemetery.
Mrs. Jernigan was a native of McDavid, Fla. and a resident of Century for the past 54 years.
Mrs. Jernigan's grandson, Steven W. Mize, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Hughie Jernigan of Century; two daughters, Judy (Don) Bondurant of Flomaton and Joan (Gary) Mize of Flomaton; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Bondurant of Edwards, Calif. and Cynthia Mize of Foley and two great-grandchildren, Cole and Tristian Bondurant.
Active pallbearers were Keith Nelson, John White, Charlie Brown, Jack Brown, Billy Byrd and Frederick Crews.
Lilly Bell Dacus
CLEVELAND, Ohio – Mrs. Lilly Bell Dacus, 88, a native of Blacksher, passed away Feb. 19 in East Cleveland, Ohio. Funeral services were held on Feb. 26 at Turner Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Walter L. Williams officiating. Graveside services followed in Davis Cemetery in Blacksher.
Mrs. Dacus' husband and son preceded her in death.
Survivors include three sisters, Mary E. Lucas of Cleveland, Ohio, Clander Reese of Tensaw and Willie M. Lovett of Daphne.
Dewey L. Henderson
CENTURY, Fla. – Dewey L. Henderson, 65, passed away on March 1 at his residence. Funeral services will be announced at a later date by Turner Funeral Chapel.
