Wind Creek Casino and Hotel brought some unique attractions to Atmore over the weekend as they hosted the Professional Cowboy Association Championship Rodeo Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Gates opened Friday at 7 p.m. and audiences were treated to an entertaining show that included barrel racing, bareback riding, break away roping, saddle bronc riding, bull riding, calf riding and roping, and steer roping and wrestling.

Trick and fancy rider Kristy Harris and rodeo clown Reggie Purvis were also on hand wowing crowds.

Wind Creek Public Relations Manager Lynn Woodcock said the rodeo was a great way to give crowds something a little different to enjoy.

“We’re always considering different types of venues to pursue to entertain our guests,” Woodcock said.

The PCA is in a non-profit association supporting the sport of rodeo and is the largest association of its kind east of the Mississippi River.

According to PCA officials, “the PCA is committed to maintaining the highest standards in the industry. Our commitment makes sure that every PCA event is managed with fairness and equality for all contestants, and that the livestock used in each production is healthy and cared for to the highest standards possible.”

All proceeds from the weekend’s shows will go to benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of America.
