Elizabeth Skelton sustained two gunshot wounds after three armed suspects broke into a Johnson Street residence Thursday night.
According to information provided by the Atmore Police Department, at 11:50 p.m. the Atmore Police Department received a call to the house of Monroe Flowers.
"Flowers told police that he had some friends over at his residence visiting when three unidentified black males entered his home and demanded money and drugs," the report stated. "When Flowers told them he did not have any drugs or money to give them, the suspects became irate."
One suspect fired a pistol at Skelton hitting her once in the left leg and once in the right. Skelton received treatment from Atmore Community Hospital before being transferred to University of South Alabama Mobile to receive further treatment.
An unnamed source called the Atmore Advance around 8:13 a.m. Friday stating that the three individuals had entered her home just a few nights before.
"Three people are robbing everybody," she said. "They robbed us at gunpoint. They came to my house at 4:31 a.m. last Friday. It was three people last Friday that got robbed. They've already done six or seven houses."
According to the source some houses have been broken into when no one was home and others the assailants have charged into with guns drawn.
"They kick in your door and rob you at gunpoint," she said. "Later, at MLK, three came in the front door of a house and when we went in the front door to see what was going on they went out the back door, but they came into my house while I was asleep.
They kicked in the door and came in with a gun and asked for money and stuff."
