Four jailed for early morning theft

Four local young people are in jail this week after allegedly burglarizing Anthony’s Country Store on Travis Road just south of Brewton Saturday morning.
According to officials with the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, a call was received at approximately 3 a.m. Saturday from a witness reporting hearing someone breaking into the store.
Sheriff’s deputies, investigators, officers with the Brewton and East Brewton police departments and K9 units from Fountain Correctional Facility responded to the location.
Following a brief manhunt the four suspects were taken into custody. Devenick Thomas, 20, of Flomaton; Alphonso Wesley, 25, of Flomaton; Courtney Wiggins, 19, of McDavid, Fla.; and Daniel Woods, 20, of Flomaton were arrested and transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
According to reports, the suspects made entry into the store and took items during the burglary.
All four suspects remain in the detention center awaiting bond hearings. Each suspect was charged with burglary in the third degree, criminal mischief in the second degree, theft of property in the third degree and trespassing in the third degree.
The case remains under investigation by the Escambia County Sheriff’s Department.
