There's National deficit, war in Iraq, body parts in food and the top stories in the media are the runaway bride and the American Idol scandal.
The runaway bride story, for those that may not keep up with ongoing reports of gossip that fit into the category of "other people's business", is the story of a woman so scared to marry a guy that she left her hometown, left the county and left the state trying to get away from him and then faked her own kidnapping rather than tell him what happened.
The American Idol scandal is about an opportunist trying to claim a sexual relationship to Paula Abdul in order to push his new book and cd.
These people are irresponsible and should not be allowed fame for what they have done.
By catering to these people and giving them publicity we are rewarding them for being selfish.
Is this the message we want to send to our children?
