William Benjamin Leggett
BREWTON – Rev. William Benjamin Leggett, 86, passed away Tuesday, June 7 in the Brewton hospital. Funeral services were held Thursday, June 9 from the chapel of Craver's Funeral Home in Brewton with Rev. Ronnie Hall and Rev. Larry Davis officiating. Graveside services followed in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. The family received friends Wednesday, June 8 at Craver's Funeral Home.
Rev. Leggett was a native of Zion City, Ill., and had been a resident of Atmore for the past two years, coming from Brewton. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army. An ordained minister, Rev. Leggett served as pastor for a number of years. His last pastorate was at Springhill Baptist Church in Munson, Fla. Rev. Leggett was preceded in death by a son, Mr. William Edward Leggett. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Sue Leggett of Atmore; a son, Mr. Dale A. Leggett and his wife, Marianne, of Brewton; four step-sons, Floyd Harris and Wayne Harris, both of Atmore, Calvin Harris of North Carolina, and Thomas Harris of Bay Minette; three step-daughters, Margie Harrell of Canoe, Maydell Beachman of Greenville, N.C., and Faye Ruggs of Liberty City, Ind.; one half-brother, Carl Jensen of Meadview, Ariz.; one half-sister, Elsie Malley of Milton, Fla.; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and 19 step-grandchildren.

Seth O'Neal Ramer
BAY MINETTE – Infant Seth O'Neal Ramer of Atmore passed away Sunday, June 12 at a Baldwin County Hospital. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 16 at 2 p.m. at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Sister Helen Stewart officiating. Graveside services will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 15 between 6 and 9 p.m. at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
He is survived by his parents, Lawrence and Jennifer Ramer of Atmore; three brothers, Joshua Salter of Atmore, and Shawn Ramer and Anthony Ramer of Andalusia; his grandparents, Arthur Ramer of Atmore, Pearl Nall of Pensacola, and Dewayne and Linda Salter of Atmore; great-grandparents, Esther Salter of Atmore and O'Neal and Imogene Boyington of Atmore; and great-great-grandmother Dottie Burdick of Atmore.
Pallbearers will be Jamie Ramer, Ashley Salter, Heath Smith, and Jimmy Boyington.
Lewis Floyd Godwin, Sr.
LAKE CITY, Fla. – Mr. Lewis Floyd Godwin, Sr., 74, of Ft. White, Fla. passed away Friday, June 10 at the Health Center in Lake City. Funeral services were held Sunday, June 12 at Elim Baptist Church in Ft. White with Reverend Charles Knight officiating. The family received friends one hour prior to the service. Another funeral service was held Tuesday, June 14 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home in Atmore. Graveside services followed in Oak Grove Cemetery. The family received friends Monday at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
A native of Oak Grove, Fla., Mr. Godwin was the son of the late Lawrence F. and Anne Greer Godwin. Mr. Godwin had lived in Ft. White since 1992 following his retirement from the Department of Corrections at the Reception and Medical Center of Lake Butler as a correctional officer for 24-and-one-half years. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in Korea. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening and was a craftsman in wood working, having built beautiful furniture for his home. Mr. Godwin was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Elim Baptist Church in Ft. White. He is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Mrs. Stella Godwin of Ft. White; on son, Lewis Floyd Godwin, Jr., of Houston Texas; one daughter, Debra Ann Watson of Arlington, Texas; one brother, Windell Godwin of Macclenny, Fla.; two sisters, Evelyn Sepulvado of Zwolle, La., and Una Miller of Atlanta, Ga.; and five grandchildren.

Thomas Robinson, Sr.
ATMORE – Mr. Thomas Robinson, Sr., 81, of Atmore passed away Friday, June 10 at Atmore Community Hospital. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, June 18 at 2 p.m. at Gaines Chapel A.M.E. Church in Atmore. Graveside services will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Atmore. The family will receive friends Friday, June 17 from 6-7 p.m. at Christian Memorial Funeral Home. There will be a viewing that afternoon from noon until 6 p.m.
Martha Ann Maxwell Allen
DeRIDDER, La. – Mrs. Martha Ann Maxwell Allen, 52, of DeRidder passed away Tuesday, June 14 in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 16, beginning at 10 a.m. First United Methodist Church in DeRidder. The family will receive friends at Labby Memorial Wednesday, June 15 from 4-8 p.m.
Mrs. Allen was born in Birmingham on July 19, 1952, and grew up in Atmore. She was a graduate of Escambia County High School and the University of Alabama with a B.A. in Education and a Masters +30 in Special Education. She was serving as an Educational Diagnostician with the Vernon Parish School Board Office, and spent 15+ years in the classroom. She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Van Allen of DeRidder; her daughter, Ashley Allen of DeRidder; her son, Hunter Allen of Montgomery; her parents, Dr. and Mrs. B.C. Maxwell of Atmore; her sister, Lynn Maxwell Shirley and her husband, Ronnie, of Peachtree City, Ga.; and her brother, Bo Maxwell of Atmore.
Mattie Lou Hawkins
PENSACOLA – Mrs. Mattie Lou Hawkins, 90, of Atmore passed away Thursday, June 9 at Baptist Hospital. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, June 17 at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Atmore, with Rev. Monroe Tucker officiating. Graveside services will follow in Fairview cemetery in Atmore. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 16 at Turner Funeral Chapel from 1-8:30 p.m.
Mrs. Hawkins was a native of Wilcox County and a resident of Atmore for many years. She was a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church and was a housekeeper. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Hawkins; her parents, Luck and Carrie Brown; two daughters, Ruth Phillips and Ruby Lee Brown; and her sisters, Carrie Rivers, Rosie Lee Brown, and Alberta Dortch. She is survived by four daughters, Rosie Dailey and Marie Hawkins and her husband, Willie, of Atmore.
Nettie Martin
ATMORE – Mrs. Nettie Martin, 100, of Bratt passed away Monday, June 13 at a local hospital. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, June 16 at 10 a.m. at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Brother Ricky Hart officiating. Graveside services will follow at Godwin Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 15 between 6 and 9 p.m. at Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Mrs. Martin was a native of Troy, and a resident of Bratt for most of her life. She was a loving mother, an attentive grandmother and great-grandmother, and attended the Shiloh Freewill Baptist Church. She is survived by five sons, Robert J. Martin of Bratt, Shirley F. Martin of Canoe, Bernard Ray Martin of Canoe, Carol W. Martin of Atmore, and Carl Douglas Martin of Bratt; two daughters, Lillie Goldmon of Bayou La Batre and Shelby Jean Hatcher of Atmore; and five generations of grandchildren, numerous children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and great-great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Cody Sells, Benjamin Martin, Tony Baggett, Harold Martin, Bobby Martin, and Michael Chavers.
Matthew Richard Baisden
ATMORE – Mr. Matthew Richard Baisden, 18, passed away Tuesday, June 7 at a local hospital. Funeral services were held Friday, June 10 at Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Grindle and Rev. Earl Harrison officiating. Graveside services followed at Serenity Garden Cemetery. The family received friends Thursday night at Eastside Chapel.
Matthew was a native and lifelong resident of Atmore. He completed his GED course at Jefferson Davis Community College and attended Brooks Memorial Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Opal Greenwood; great-grandfathers, Hugh Wiggins and Douglas McBride; and a great-grandmother, Lula Davis. He is survived by his father, Jimmy Baisden of Atmore; his mother, Andrea Etheridge of Atmore; a brother, William Sebren Etheridge of Atmore; three sisters, Britton Leigh Baisden and Opal Suzanne Etheridge, both of Atmore; and Savanna Lynn Baisden of Flomaton; his grandparents, Teak and Bobbie Taylor of Atmore, and James Baisden of Rogersville, Tenn.; and his great-grandparents, Austin and Callie Taylor of Booneville and Ruby Wiggins of Atmore.
Pallbearers were Timothy McMorris, Bryan McMorris, Shannon Taylor, Justin Rolin, Shawn McBride, Denver Moseley, Emmett Greenwood, Rob Griffin, and Craig Hadley.
