The Atmore Police Department is looking for anyone who has information that can help them catch three masked gunmen.
Officers responded to an incident at 11:21 p.m. on June 26 after receiving a 911 call from a person reporting a person being shot at 97 Brooks Lane. Upon arrival, officers found a middle aged male, identified as Willie Grimes lying near the doorway of a mobile home.
Grimes was suffering from two gunshot wounds near his abdomen area. He stated that a young black male wearing a ski mask and armed with a handgun entered his home demanding money. Grimes was later shot by the suspect.
Grimes was transported to Atmore Community Hospital by Kelley's Ambulance Service for treatment and later transferred by LifeFlight to Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, Fla.
APD dispatchers received another call at 9:28 p.m. on June 22 from a person reporting a robbery at the Patterson Street Apartment Complex.
When officers arrived, Stephen Chappelle and Lester Reed, both of which said they were cable television sub-contractors, approached them stating that they had been robbed by two black males wearing masks while hooking up a customer's cable television service. One of the suspects pulled a handgun and robbed the men of an undisclosed amount of money.
Neither Chappelle nor Reed was injured during the robbery.
If anyone has any information concerning either case, contract the Atmore Police Department at 368-9141.
