Franklin Hovell
PENSACOLA – Franklin Hovell, 84, of Pensacola passed away Monday, July 11. Mr. Hovell was born in Boston, Mass., to the late William and Elizabeth Hovell. He served in the United States Navy in World War II and the Korean War. He attended Northeastern University and was a mechanical engineer retired from Monsanto Corporation. He was a member of West Pensacola Masonic Lodge.
He was preceded in death 19 days earlier by his wife of 57 years, Grace Hovell. He is survived by a daughter, Linda Martin, and her husband, Bill Parrott, of Pensacola; two sisters-in-law, Edna Barrentine and her husband, Cliff, and Gladys Middleton and her husband, Haskew, both of Atmore; a cousin, Ron Hovell and his wife, Marcia, of Pensacola; eight nieces, Kim Woodham, Debbie Steeley, Karen Martin, Beverly Morley, Pam Middleton, Nancie del Real, Mary Hilmer, and Cecilia Jacobs; and three nephews, Doug Martin, Bob Middleton, and Jim Stacey; great golf partners, and the dearest of neighbors.
A memorial service will be held at Faith Chapel Funeral Home at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 23. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Alabama at 574 Azalea Road Suite 106; Mobile, AL 36609.

Lillie Mae Rolin
BAY MINETTE – Lillie Mae Rolin, 80, of Bay Minette passed away Monday, July 11, at North Baldwin Infirmary. She was a native of Monroe County and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank McKinley Rollin. She is survived by five sons, Frank Edward Rolin of Bay Minette, William Rollin of Atmore; and Wayne Rollin, James Rollin, and Jimmy Rollin, all of Bay Minette; two daughters, Irene R. Phelps of Bay Minette and Glenda Nelson of Fairhope; one brother, Bill Powell of Oak Grove, La.; one sister, Annie Dee Pitts of Houston, Texas; 19 grandchildren, and 29 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 14, at 10 a.m. at the chapel of Norris Funeral Home in Bay Minette. Graveside services will follow at Johnson Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 13 from 6-8 p.m. at Norris Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Shane Rollin, David Nelson, Raymond Nelson, Stephen Rollin, Lee Rollin, and Wayne Rollin, Jr.
Funeral arrangements are by Norris Funeral Home, Bay Minette.
Annie Bell McMillian
ATMORE – Mrs. Annie Bell McMillian, 93, of Drewry passed away Wednesday, July 13, in Atmore Nursing Care Center. She was a native and life-long resident of Drewry in Monroe County and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her father, Eddie Brown, and her mother, Sallie Bell Clausell. She is survived by six daughters, Dorothy Gross, Annie T. McMillian-Burrell, and Mary Jo Sigler and her husband, Edward, all of Monroeville, Bertha Jordan and her husband, Fred, of Repton, Betty Parker of Huntsville, and Mattie Hetherington of Atmore; six sons, Calvin McMillian and his wife, Elizabeth, James Frank McMillian and his wife, Marcella, Carl McMillian and his wife, Mary, Jesse McMillian, and Keith McMillian and his wife, Evon, all of Monroeville, and Curtis McMillian and his wife, Frances, of Huntsville; three sisters, Mary Sigler of Mobile, Lillie Gould of Pensacola, and Bertha McMillan of Repton; one brother, Ollie Brown and his wife, Catherine, of Moss Point, Miss., 43 grandchildren, 106 great-grandchildren, and a host of great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 18, at Limestone Fork AME Zion Church in Monroeville with Rev. Dembray Archie officiating. Graveside services followed at the adjoining cemetery.

Daisy L. Craft McKenzie
ATMORE – Mrs. Daisy L. Craft McKenzie, 68, of Atmore passed away Wednesday, July 6, in Atmore Community Hospital. She was a native of Escambia County and a resident of Atmore for many years. She was a member of Jones Street Holiness Church and served as a missionary and a member of the Senior Choir. She attended school in Escambia County, and worked as a cook in the restaurant industry.
She was preceded in death by her father, Curtis Craft, her mother, Josephine Davis, her spouse, Richard McKenzie, two sisters, Barbara Craft and Gertie Lee Craft McDowell, one brother, Thomas Craft, and one son, Thomas Craft. She is survived by three daughters, Betty McKenzie, Sharon McKenzie, and Sherry Kyles and her husband, Eddie, all of Atmore; one son, Gordon McKenzie of Atmore; three adopted children, Vincent Craft and his wife, Sandra, Vanessa Bullard and her husband, Ronald, and Bridgette Harris and her husband, Andrea; four step-children, Sherry Hazley and her husband, Mykal, of Detroit, Mich., Joyce Gunn of Detroit, Mich., and Annie Lyons and Risa Brooks of Atmore; 12 sisters, Ella Johnson and her husband, Delloyd, and Lucille Millender, both of Atmore, Linda Isaac and her husband, Tony, Dorothy Craft, and Mary Craft, all of Pensacola, Laura Patton, Sharon Patton, Vell Paurker and her husband, Alford, and Gloria Ann Channey and her husband, Fred, all of Birmingham, Barnetta Hawkins and her husband Rubin, and Bernetta Stewart and her husband, Dante, both of Montgomery, and Amelia Dowell of Auburn; six brothers, Dessie Craft of Panama City, Fla., Willie Craft and his wife, Idelle, and Eddie Craft and his wife, Wanda, of Detroit, Mich., James Craft and his wife, Glendine, of Atmore, Curtis Craft and his wife, Evelyn, of Pensacola, and Leonard Craft of Texas; 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 15, at Jones Street Holiness Church in Atmore with Bishop Willie Williams officiating. Graveside services followed at Fairview Cemetery in Atmore.

Sarah Fuqua
ATMORE – Mrs. Sarah Fuqua, 88, of Atmore passed away Tuesday, July 5, in Atmore Nursing Care Center. She was a native of Rock Hill Co., S.C., and a resident of Atmore for many years. She was a housewife.
She was preceded in death by her father, Willie Thomas, her mother, Emma Kenion, and her spouse, Manley Fuqua. She is survived by one daughter, Wilma Thomas and her husband, Bernard, of Atmore; one son, Robert Boyde and his wife, Mary, of Buffalo, N.Y.; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 13, at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Atmore with Rev. Perryman officiating. Graveside services followed at Fairview Cemetery in Atmore.
Luevedia Armstrong Henderson
PENSACOLA – Mrs. Luevedia Armstrong Henderson, 80, of Atmore passed away Thursday, July 7 in West Florida Regional Medical Center. She was a native of Baldwin County and a resident of Atmore for many years. She was a housewife.
She was preceded in death by her father, Willie Armstrong, and her mother, Inez Pierce. She is survived by three daughters, Judy Henderson and Mary L. Riley, both of Atmore, and Deloise Graham of Perdido; two sons, Mackathur Henderson of Atmore and Roy T. Henderson of Brooklyn, N.Y.; 29 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Thursday, July 14 at Holy Community Center in Atmore with Bishop Jimmy C. Wilson officiating. Graveside services followed in Fairview Cemetery in Atmore.

James V. Phifer
JAY, Fla. – Mr. James V. Phifer, 86, of Century passed away Friday, July 8, in Jay Hospital. He was a native of Butler County and a resident of Century for many years. He worked as a lumber worker with a sawmill company for many years and served in the United States Navy.
He was preceded in death by his father, Will Phifer, and his mother, Rosie Evans. He is survived by his wife, Inora Phifer, of Atmore; three daughters, Nancy Riley and her husband, Dashwood, of Atmore, and Gloria Williams and Lorenda Phifer, both of Far Rockaway, N.Y.; four sons, James Phifer and his wife, Emma, of Century, Thomas Phifer and his wife, Bettye, of Flomaton, and Floyd Phifer and his wife, Josephine, and David Phifer, both of Far Rockaway, N.Y.; two sisters, Rosie Lee Franklin and Addie Lee Reid, both of Atlanta, Ga.; two brothers, L.C. Phifer of Century and Robert Phifer and his wife, Gladys, of Boston, Mass.; 25 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 16, at Bethel AFIM Church in Century with Dashwood Riley officiating. Graveside services followed at Century Cemetery. The family received friends Friday, July 15, at New Calvary Temple in Century.

Essie Digman Ziglar
ATMORE – Mrs. Essie Digman Ziglar, 84, of Atmore passed away Sunday, July 17, at her residence. She was a homemaker, born in Robinsonville on August 17, 1920 to the late James Elbert and Naomi Margaret Singleton Digman.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Xury David Ziglar. She is survived by three sons, Bobby G. Ziglar of Gulf Shores, Clark David Ziglar of Bratt, and Max Audrey Ziglar of Robinsonville; one daughter, Sandra Z. Wilson of Robinsonville; one brother, James P. Digman of Robinsonville; two sisters, Edna Earl Lambert of Nokomis and Jean Lambert of Tillman's Corner; 12 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 20 at 10:30 a.m. from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby Willis, Rev. Kevin Fralick, and Rev. Charles Ellis officiating. Graveside services will follow in Pine Level Cemetery. The family received friends Tuesday, July 19, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers will be David Ziglar, Jamie Ziglar, Chad McMurphy, Larry Gross, Doug Bradford, Eddie Barnett, David Miles, and Matt Watson. Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Edwards, Bernie Edwards, Miles Gagner, Brett Gagner, Russell Nelson,, Chris Norton, and Daryl Cox.

Elias D. Hendricks
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Mr. Elias D. Hendricks, 58, of Atmore passed away Friday, July 15. He was a construction worker with Southern Erectors, born in Mobile on September 25, 1946 to the late Jonas and Edna Marie Baggett Hendricks.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Sue Hendricks off Atmore; three sons, Terry Ordis of Atmore, David Beasley and his wife, Connie, of Dansville, Kent., and Ashley Beasley and his wife, Tracey, of Flomaton; three brothers, Jonas R. Hendricks, Gwin M.. Hendricks, and Clifford B. Hendricks, all of Atmore; one sister, Gloria M. Hall and her husband, Allen, of Atmore; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 19, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ronald Hall officiating. Graveside services followed in Serenity Gardens. The family received friends Monday, July 18, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
