The junior varsity Escambia County Blue Devils picked up a weekend victory defeating the Baldwin County Tigers 35-14 in Atmore last Saturday.

Escambia County dominated the game for four quarters never trailing and not allowing the Tigers to pull any type of comeback.

In the first quarter, the Blue Devils pounded the Tigers on both ends of the court scoring 11 points and holding Baldwin County to two.

With a nine-point lead, ECHS again outscored the Tigers 11-2 to go into halftime with an incredible 22-4 lead.

It was the same story in the second half as the Blue Devils dominated the Tigers in the third and fourth quarters.

Escambia County added to their stout lead in the third period with eight points going on the scoreboard. As they held the Tigers to three defensively, they went into the final quarter leading 30-7.

The Blue Devils took their foot off of the gas in the fourth period with the Tigers outscoring them 7-5, but the damage was done giving them a 35-14 victory.

The Blue Devils were led by Jarvis Knight’s 11 points, while Darius McCarthy added in five.

Joseph Ferrell, Melik McMillian and Kevin Osuala all scored four points in the victory for ECHS.

Also scoring for the Blue Devils were TyAnthony McNeal (3 points), Devontae Walker (2 points), LaCraig Brown (2 points) and Akeem Gray (2 points.)

The Escambia County Blue Devils junior varsity were defeated in basketball action last Friday by the Monroe County Tigers.

The Tigers controlled the majority of the game winning 39-31.

In the first half, the Tigers jumped out ahead of the Blue Devils 16-6 in the first quarter and took the lead into halftime 22-15.

Following halftime, the Blue Devils stayed within reach of the Tigers, but the game was put away in the fourth quarter.

In the third quarter, the Tigers outscored the Blue Devils 13-6, and ended the game with a 9-5 run in the fourth period to win 39-31.

The Blue Devils were led by Devontae Walker and Darius McCarthy in the loss. Walker posted eight points and McCarthy finished with seven.
