It has been a long stretch of tough luck for the Blue Devils of Escambia County High School; but coach Kyle Davis can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Since beginning two-a-days Monday morning, Davis has seen significant progress in his Blue Devil squad.
Davis said another significant improvement had come in the area of conditioning.
Despite having a few players unavailable for the start of practice for various reasons, Davis said he is pleased with the numbers he will have this season.
By AHSAA rules the first several days of practice must be conducted in shorts and helmets. The Blue Devils will strap on full pads Thursday, and Davis is looking forward to seeing what they can do.
Davis also reiterated his commitment to bringing ECHS back to their glory days.
The Blue Devils will kick off the 2005 season August 26 when they travel to Brewton to take on arch-rival T.R. Miller at 7 p.m.
