Atmore Mayor Howard Shell has noticed several property owners have large amounts of debris left behind by Hurricane Dennis that still haven't been picked up.
During Monday afternoon's council meeting, he urged citizens to get their debris to the curb because clean-up efforts will be wrapping up shortly.
Employees with Crowder-Gulf of Theodore began the second of three debris clean-up passes Monday morning.
Shell stressed the importance of residents getting their property cleaned up, so the debris can be disposed of.
Crowder-Gulf will wrap up the clean-up efforts on Sept. 16. Shell encouraged residents to not wait until the last minute.
Shell later issued a release stating that it is important citizens understand for debris to be picked up it must be Hurricane Dennis generated debris and:
The city also urges citizens not to mix construction debris with vegetative debris at curbside
Also Citizens are cautioned not to place debris on or near water meters, fire hydrants, communication pedestals, or street signage.
The City anticipates the third and final pass for debris removal work will begin on Sept. 6. All eligible debris must be at curbside by that date.
