Inez C. Peacock
ENTERPRISE- Mrs. Inez C. Peacock, 91, of Enterprise passed away Friday morning, Sept. 9, 2005 following an extended illness.
Mrs. Peacock was born April 8, 1914 in Escambia County, Alabama to the late John Cruit and Pearlie Vickery. She lived in Atmore, Alabama until moving to Enterprise a few years ago to be near her son. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Atmore. Her husband, Claude J. Peacock in October 2003, preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Don Peacock (Laura) of Enterprise, Alabama; three grandchildren: Cynthia Curenton (Tim), Bryan Peacock, Stacey Poarch (Tim); 4 great grandchildren: Aaron, Ashley and Adam Curenton and Hunter Peacock; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were held, Sunday, Sept. 11. 2005 in Patterson-Sorrells Chapel in Enterprise, Alabama with Dr. Billy Joy officiating. Graveside services were held in the Miller Cemetery in Atmore with Patterson-Sorrells Funeral Home directing.
Alice Morgan Brown
FLOMATON – Mrs. Alice Brown, 79, died Saturday, Sept. 10, 2005 in a Brewton healthcare facility. Mrs. Brown has been a resident of Flomaton since 1953, coming from Petersburg, Tennessee. She worked as a Teachers Aide at Flomaton High School for a number of years and was a member of the Flomaton First United Methodist Church.
Her husband, Mr. George A. Brown, Sr, preceded Mrs. Brown in death.
Survivors include one son, George A. Brown, Jr, of Century, Florida; one daughter, Morgan (Sonny) Morris of Flomaton, Alabama; one brother, Robert Kenneth Morgan, Jr. of Nashville, Tennessee; six grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2005 at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Pugh and Rev. Jerry Keese. Burial followed at Flomaton Cemetery in Flomaton, Alabama. Pallbearers were Bubba Brown, Jimbo Pugh, Nathan Brown, Leroy Steele, Shawn Hoomes, and Matt Arrington. Flomaton Funeral Home directed.
Joseph Thames, Sr.
ATMORE – Mr. Joseph Thames, Sr., 95, passed away Sept. 4, 2005. Mr. Thames was born on July 4, 1910 in Monroe County. He was the second of three children born to late John and Kisanna (James) Thames.
His family moved to the Atmore area at the age of eleven. He served many years as a devoted trustee at Mt. Gillead Baptist Church in Atmore. He worked at Swift Lumber Company and retired from Monsanto in 1972. Mr. Thames married Annie Ruth Long on Sept. 29, 1929. To this union of over 64 years, ten children were born. Affectionately both family and friends knew that as "Daddy Joe" and "Mama Ruth".
His wife, Annie Ruth, a daughter, Celestine, a son, Willie Fred Thames and a brother Emmanuel Thames, preceded him in death.
To cherish his memories he leaves eight children; Fannie Jobe (Welton) of Nashville, TN; Joseph Thames, Jr. (Janice) of Atmore, AL, Gertrude Davis (John) of Nashville, TN,
Earnest Thames (Pearl) of Baltimore, MD, Malachi Thames (Rosalyn) of Baltimore, MD,
Olivette Williams of Atmore, AL, Rufus Thames (Jackie) of Brewton, AL, Esther Sharpe-Church of Nashville, TN, three generations of grandchildren, a sister, Lula B. Dukes, Pensacola, FL; a brother-in-law, A.D. Milton and a sister-in-law Clementine Bishop; a long time friend Raymond Barron and a caring and devoted friend Climmie Lindsey Johnson all of Atmore, AL; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Gertrude Robinson
STOCKTON – Mrs. Gertrude Stockton, 98, passed away Tues. Sept. 13, 2005 in North Baldwin Infirmary. Mrs. Robinson was a resident of Stockton, AL. Christian Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Ruth Robinson
ATMORE – Ms. Ruth Robinson, 82, died Saturday, Sept. 10, 2005 at her residence in Atmore, AL.
William Lucas
ATMORE – Mr. William Lucas, 57, died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2005 at his residence in Atmore, AL.
Luman L. "Buddy" Pickern
MCDAVID – Mr. Luman L. "Buddy" Pickern, 81, passed away Friday, Sept. 9, 2005 at a Santa Rosa County Hospital.
Mr. Pickern was a native of Muscogee, FL and a resident of McDavid, FL for most of his life. He was owner of Trailway Service Station in Atmore, a former employee of Alabama Dry-dock and Shipbuilding Company, a former employee of Atmore Trucker's Association and attended the Christian Home Freewill Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Thomas E. Pickern.
Survivors include his wife, Luverne Pickern of Christian Home, FL; two sons, Kenneth L. and Doris Pickern of Old Town, FL and Danny Ray and Vicki Pickern of Davisville, FL; two daughters, Judy and Lavon Parham of Christian Home, FL; and Phylis and Ronnie York of Atmore; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; his brother, Horace E. and Pauline Pickern of Bratt, FL; and two sisters, Doris Martez Mosher of Atmore, and Evelyn Wallace of Tucson, AZ.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2005 at 10 a.m. at the Christian Home Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. John Shamblin and Rev. Gene Pickern officiating.
Burial followed at Christian Home Cemetery with Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Cody Parham, Ken Pickern, Ken Pickern, III, Charles Donaldson, Ricky Pickern and Ed Muse. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Poulson, Ronnie Boone, Bennie Ward and Kevin Faircloth.
David Devater Cole
ATMORE – Mr. David Devater Cole, 72, died Thursday, Sept. 8, 2005 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola. He was a native and resident of Atmore, AL. Mr. Cole served in the United States Armed Forces.
His father, Grady Cole and Lola Amos Cole, preceded Mr. Robinson in death. He is survived by one sister, Rose Teague of Chicago, IL; one brother, Howard (Delois) Cole of Atmore, AL.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2005, at 1 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home Chapel in Atmore with Bishop Willie Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Atmore. Turner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
James Lee Shivers
MONROEVILLE – Mr. James Lee Shivers, 88, died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2005 at Providence Hospital in Mobile, AL. Mr. Shivers was a native of Uriah, AL and a resident of Monroeville, AL for many years. Mr. Shivers was a minister.
He was preceded in death by his wife Tommie Mae Shivers; one son, Floyd Shivers; his father and mother, R. C. Shivers and Ethel Shivers.
He is survived by five daughters, Florestine Shivers of Foley, AL, Wynetta (Lester) Brown, Melanie Shivers, Joelaine (Hamaad) Al- Hameed, Dixie (Vern) Smith all of Fort Dodge, IO; six sons, Billy (Barbara) Shivers, Michael (Melissa) Shivers, Mark Shivers, Dartonya (Melissa) Shivers, Ira (Mary) Shivers, Sheldon (Shelby) Shivers, all of Fort Dodge, IO; sixty grandchildren and thirty-two great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, Sept. 16, 2005 at 2 p.m. at the Second Baptist Church in Fort Dodge, IO. Burial will follow at North Lawn Cemetery in Fort Dodge, IO. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Gunderson Funeral Home in Fort Dodge, IO.
Turner Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Richard Keith Pearson
GEORGIA – Richard Keith Pearson, 23, of Cumming died Friday, Sept. 9, 2005 at Northside Hospital in Atlanta.
Pearson was born Aug. 16, 1982 in Mobile, AL. He grew up in Bratt, FL where he graduated from Northview High School. Pearson received his A.A. in Music Performance from Faulkner State Community College in Bay Minette. He had lived in Cummings, GA for the past two years. Rick was the Creative Arts Pastor and Worship Leader at Mountain Lake Church and had been a regular Worship Leader at North Point Community Church where he also worked with the BigStuf Camps, the Passion Conferences and various other ministries and events.
Survivors include his mother and step-father, Elaine and Billy Holk of Bratt, FL; father, Harold Pearson of Atmore, AL; his fianc/, Suzanne Hardy of Spanish Fort, AL; sisters, Candi Shelton of Los Angeles, CA and Haley Pearson of Bratt, FL; grandparents, Ronald and Annie Bryan of Walnut Hill, FL and great grandmother, Myrl Smith of Bratt, FL.
Interment services were held Monday, September 12, at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens in Cumming, GA followed by a memorial service at North Point Community Church.
