John Carlton Franklin
JAY – John Carlton Franklin, 91, of Jay, died Oct. 2, 2005. Mr. Franklin was a lifelong resident of Jay. He was a loving, exemplary father, never changing with the times, true to his convictions. The end of an era.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Queen Victoria Franklin; daughter, Becky Ann Langford; three grandsons, Wesley Hutto, Kevin Faulk and Robbie Cross.
He is survived by three sons, John (LuAnn) Franklin, Jr. of Pace, Douglas (Molly) Franklin and Robert Franklin, both of Citronelle; eight daughters, Mary Sue Pittman of Milton, Rosa Inez Gibbs of Foley; Lillie Mae (D.C.) Lambert of Andalusia, Helen Baxley of Milton, Faye Franklin of Tallahassee, Shirley Mertens (Kim) of Souix Falls, S.D., Victoria Franklin of Atlanta and Ruby (Dr. Joseph) Fernandez of Enterprise; one sister, Mable Fox of Pensacola; one brother-in-law, Kenny (Stella) Knowles of Jay; 19 grandchildren; 16 great – grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, Oct. 6, 2005 at Ebenezer Assembly of God with Bro. Bobby Carnley, pastor of Ebenezer Assembly of God, was officiating. Active pallbearers are Joey Fernandez, Len Baxley, D.C. Lambert, Lee Miller, Earl Murphy, and Jimmy Enfinger. Jay Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Inez Moye Pope
MOLINO – Mrs. Inez Moye Pope, 69, passed away Friday, Oct. 7, 2005 in Molino, Fla. Mrs. Pope was a native of Canoe, a former resident of Pensacola and Flomaton, and a resident of Molino, Fla. for the past 13 years. She was a faithful church attendant as long as her health permitted, and a devoted mother.
Her parents, Ellis and Ola Moye; two brothers, Leroy Moye and Ezell Moye and a sister, Lillie Gunn, preceded her in death. Survivors include: her son and daughter-in-law, Josh and Angie Pope of Molino, Fla.; two grandchildren, Andrae Pope and Caleb Pope, both of Molino, Fla.; and three sisters, Carolyn Warren of Jacksonville, Fla., Mary Taylor of Brewton and Clara Stokes of Flomaton.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Oct. 9, 2005 at 2 p.m. at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Glynn Lowery and Rev. Ronnie Carnley officiating. Burial will follow at Traveler's Rest Cemetery.
