United Bank customers living on the southside of Atmore won't have to drive across town to bank any longer after this week.
Friday, the bank will hold its grand opening and ribbon cutting celebration at 11 a.m. at its new southside branch located at 164 Lindberg Ave. next to Adam's Plaza.
"This branch is really going to be geared for on the go banking transactions," United Bank marketing coordinator Nick Baggett said. "We're featuring wider drive through lanes, but we will have an interior area for new accounts and inside transactions. We'll also have a drive-up ATM lane for use after hours and on weekends."
The new Southside Station will feature three drive-up lanes as well as the ATM lane. Workers have been putting the final touches on the new bank the past week including landscaping, constructing a sign, roofing and painting.
"We've tried to model it after the depot. We know Atmore is real proud of its railroad heritage," Baggett said.
Construction on the facility began at end of July. Baggett said he is pleased with how construction went.
"Construction has come along rather quickly at the new branch while the renovations at our main branch have progressed considering weather delays," he said.
United Bank officials are pleased that the Southside Station will be complete because heavy renovations to the bank's main branch on Hwy. 31 will begin soon.
"We're really excited to get this open," he said. "We're going to be facing a lot of congestion at our main office when renovations to our main office begin. We would really like our customers to know about our new southside station and use it."
Baggett said no additional employees have been hired to work at the Southside Station, but believes some will be hired at some point.
During the Grand Opening, several door prizes and other giveaways will be made including a drawing for a model train set.
