Blue Devils move up to No. 5

Published 4:43 pm Thursday, January 26, 2012

A matchup of No. 1 boys teams cost one their perch in this week’s Alabama Sports Writers high school basketball rankings.

Previously unbeaten Bob Jones dropped from first to second in Class 6A after a one-point loss last weekend to Lee-Huntsville, which is the No. 1 team in Class 5A. Carver-Montgomery, which has won 13 straight games and twice avenged both of its in-state losses, moves to No. 1.

With Bob Jones (22-1) losing, only one known unbeaten boys team remains in either the AHSAA or AISA. Barbour County (24-0) is ranked No. 1 in Class 2A.
