Johnnie F. Woods Memorial Park was buzzing with the smell of hot dogs and the crack of the bat last Saturday.
The Atmore T-Ball League opened its season on April 1 and there were no practical jokes anywhere to be found as the six-teams in the league played their first game of the season.
"It was a good weekend," Tammy Graham said. "It was hectic in the beginning, but we got through it and it turned into a great day."
At 10:30 a.m. the Tri-Co Electric Company Shockers faced the Atmore Utilities Board Blue Flames and the Huddle House Scramblers squared off against the Coley Air Conditioning Coolers.
Following the end of the Scramblers-Coolers game, the Atmore Insurance James Gang battled the Pepsi Challengers.
The Scramblers put the Coolers on ice with a 20-10 victory, the Blue Flames torched the Shockers 28-9 and the results of the James Gang-Challengers game was not available.
In the Scramblers victory, Nytorious Cooler led the team with six RBI and three runs scored. Louie Turner, Don Moorer and Malik Brown had three RBI and three runs scored in the game. Jackson Breckenridge scored four runs and Adrian King grabbed three RBI and scored one run.
Kaylyn Swartzendruber and Brandon Gulsby each had two runs scored and one RBI for the Coolers. Jamaya Frye had two RBI and one run scored and Abby Smith had one RBI and one run scored. According to coach Erwin Daily Frye also completed an unassisted triple play in the first inning. Frye caught the ball and tagged two runners out in one fair swoop.
In the Blue Flames win Caleb Ingram and Hunter Edward led the team with five runs scored. Robby Stabler, Noah Brooks and Evan Tatum each scored four runs. And Jacob Weaver and Adam Smith each scored three runs.
For the Shockers, Collinger Daughtry scored two runs and Noah Black, Carson Bennett, James Lewis, Logan Doremus, Henry Hadley, Anthony Betts and Tydarius Sims all scored one run.
The league has games on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays and the results from the previous week's action will be found in every Sunday edition of the Advance.
