Covenant Hospice honors all nursing professionals providing care to dying Americans and support to family caregivers during National Nurses Week, May 6 – 12. Nurses are a vital part of the hospice care team that provides care to patients and families living with life-limiting illness.
''Nurses: Strength, Commitment, Compassion" is the theme for this year's National Nurses Week. "Nurses working in end-of-life care bring together the highest levels of strength, commitment and compassion everyday in a way that reflects well on all healthcare professionals," remarked Dale O. Knee, Covenant Hospice President and CEO. "We are proud to salute those professionals who are essential members of our interdisciplinary teams."
Hospice is not a place but a philosophy of care providing dying persons and their families with pain management, symptom control, psycho-social services and spiritual support. The focus is on care not cure. At Covenant Hospice, an interdisciplinary team of professionals that includes nurses, physicians, social workers, counselors, health aides, clergy, and volunteers offer the highest quality of compassionate care to those on the final journey.
