It took a full 32 minutes, but the Escambia County Blue Devils got the job done Monday night, as they earned the Class 4A Area 1 Tournament Championship.

The Blue Devils (24-4, 6-0) faced stiff competition from the UMS-Wright Bulldogs trailing for much of the fourth quarter before mounting a comeback in the final two minutes to take the lead and win 50-47.

The game came down to free throws, as Dalvin Craft and Derrick Williams hit crucial shots late in the game to take the lead and held off one final surge by the Bulldogs to hit a three-pointer to tie the game.

The Blue Devils will now play the loser of the Hillcrest-Evergreen and Monroe County match up in the sub-regional this Friday in Atmore.
