Myrtice Richburg English
ATMORE – Mrs. Myrtice Richburg English, 85, departed this life Sept. 27, 2006 at Atmore Community Hospital.
She was a resident of Atmore and was born on Nov. 9, 1920 in Evergreen to the late Mr. J.B. and Mrs. Mazie Richburg. One sister, Mrs. Burda Kelly, and two brothers, Mr. L.D. Richburg and Mr. Fred Richburg preceded her in death. She moved to Atmore at an early age.
Mrs. English was married to Mr. William Louis English who preceded her in death. To the union, eight children were born. One daughter, Dynesia English Pryear, preceded her in death. She was a member of A.O.H. Church of God where Overseer Quillias Mitchell is the pastor.
Mrs. English was employed for many years at Escambia County High School and Greenlawn Hospital. She was a caretaker for many elderly patients and also a great seamstress for the community of Atmore.
Mrs. English leaves to cherish her memories, seven children, four daughters, Mildred Sims of Atmore, Mazie Rene English of Anniston, Vivian (Ron) Driskell of Detroit, Mich. and Gwendolyn (Rayvarn) Bryant of Freemanville; three sons, Louis (Marion) English Sr. of Bay Minette, James William (Mary) English and Larry (Edwina) English, of Atmorel two special grandchildren, Christopher English and Myrtice Pryear of Atmore; 53 grandchildren, 114 great grandchildren; 18 great- great grandchildren, two brothers-in-law, Odell (Margaret) English of Savannah, Ga. and Clarence (Odessa) Kelly of Atmore.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2006 at Greater Mt. Triumph Missionary Baptist Church with the Overseer Quillias Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Lucuas Cemetery.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Oct. 3, 2006 at Christian Memorial Funeral Home.
Myrtle Richards Bowman
Myrtle Richards Bowman, 74, passed away on Sept. 30, 2006 at Community Nursing Home. She was born on April 21, 1932 in Flora, Miss. to Mr. John Garrard and Mrs. Annie Hales.
Mrs. Bowen was preceded in death by Thomas Richards and J.T. Brown.
Survivors include, one brother, John Garrard Jr. of Atmore; four sons, Rick Richards of Vaiden, Miss., Shorty Richards of Riverside, Calif., Glenn Richards of Jacksonville, Fla. and Larry Richards of Sicklerville, Miss.; two daughters, Shelia Hawkins of Stephenville, Fla. and Terri Ingle of Frannin, Miss., 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 5, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Culpepper Funeral Home Chapel with Weldon Branham officiating. Burial will take place at Bethel Cemetery in Madison City, Miss.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Culpepper Funeral Home Chapel.
Dayton Allen Long
ATMORE – Mr. Dayton Allen Long, 59, of Atmore died Friday, Sept. 29, 2006 in Atmore.
Long was a teacher with Escambia County High School and Jefferson Davis Community College. He was born in Mobile on March 4, 1947 to the late Thomas A. and Dorothy Alice Dayton Long.
Survivors include, one brother, James Long and wife, Pat of Mobile; one sister, Margie Long of Atmore; two nephews, Kelly Long and wife, LeeAnn, and Jeffrey Long; two grand nephews, Mark Long and Gregory Ezykowich and numerous relatives and friends.
Services were held on Monday Oct. 2, 2006 at 1 p.m. at Atmore Memorial Chapel with Bro. Arnold Hendrix officiating. Interment followed in Pine Grove Cemetery in Bay Minette.
Active pallbearers included, Tommy Gerlach, Jerry Janes, Keith Janes, Bernard McCullan, Jerry Long and Pete Miller.
Family received friends on Monday Oct. 2, 2006 at Atmore Memorial Chapel from 11 a.m. until service time.
Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, Inc. of Atmore was in charge of all arrangements.
